Art gallery, artist's studios and workshop spaces serving the Atlanta arts communityUrban Art Collective is a group of 35+ independent artists working at 5655 Peachtree Road - but the building wasn't originally intended as an artist collective. Margaret Taylor built the UAC building in 2008 to provide production space for her home decor business, Dryads Dancing. She wanted the building to resemble an old factory with a retail area in front. Her many trips to NYC for trade shows provided the inspiration for a simple turn of the century building design. Margaret enjoyed the process of design and construction of the beautiful building and 16 years later still finds joy working in the space.
In 2012, the first artists moved in. Word spread, and by 2014 the entire second floor was sectioned into studios and rented to artists. Dryads was working downstairs. It was a vibrant atmosphere. In 2016, Dryads moved to another warehouse space in Chamblee due to the growing interest in studio rental space. From that point on, Urban Art Collective has been bursting with creativity and community. Urban Art Collective is a unique resource for original artwork and a treasured spot in Chamblee. Nestled right up against the railroad tracks, it is set on a quiet street that harkens back to an earlier era. Inside you will find paintings of sublime landscapes, colorful florals, whimsical abstracts, thoughtful portraits, chic moderns, and bold geometrics. Our artist collective also showcases colorful glass work, handmade gifts, jewelry, photography and figurative sculpture. We are open this fall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from ten to two.
